SS501 (pronounced as Double-S Five-Oh-One or Deo Beul E Seu Oh Yeong Il (더블에스오영일) in Korean) is a popular South Korean boy band formed under the management of Daesung Entertainment, also known as DSP Entertainment. All the members of the group have subsequently left DSP Entertainment to different management companies, but they still intend to stay together as SS501. The name of the band is a combination of letters and numbers that have particular meaning. The first “S” stands for “Superstar". The second “S” is an abbreviation for "Singer". The combination of 5, 0, and 1 symbolizes "five members united as one forever".

2005-2006: Debut
SS501 debuted on June 8, 2005 with their first single "Kyeonggo" (Korean: "경고", "Warning"), with a second single "Snow Prince" released in late 2005. The group was inactive in Korea for most of 2006, although they had a fan meeting in Japan in April of that year. The reason was due to Heo Young Saeng's throat condition which required a surgery, thus resulting in a need for time to fully recover. In mid-2006, they held their first successful concert, "Step Up Concert" in Osaka, Japan. In late 2006, they returned to Korea in order to promote their first full album, which was released on November 10 and titled S.T.01 Now. Singles from the album included "Unlock" and "Four Chance". As well as promoting the album on various variety and music shows, they also filmed a show on MNet called SOS. The group (except Heo Young Saeng, who was recovering from the sugery) also lent their voices for the 2006 animated movie Pi's Story.

2011: Comeback
Lately, Kim Hyung Jun confirmed in and interview on Sports World that SS501 will be returning in the first half of 2011. “When our individual activities and promotions end, the members of SS501 will reunite in the first half of 2011 with a new album. We will also hold concerts with the album promotions.” ~Hyung Jun

Never again imi place cel mai mult.

Park Jung Min intr-o noua drama,in Taiwan

SS501 SS501

Vei adopta ideile sale? Răspuns „Vor fi luate în considerare”.

SS501’s Kim Hyun Joong, who recently opened fanclub membership for his new solo fanclub, “Henecia“, reported that his official homepage was recently hacked. Cyber investigations have begun, and KeyEast has asked fans to refrain from submitting membership applications for the time being.

The hacker changed the notification post so that fans were now required to pay a $35 USD membership fee, and even went as far as to change the bank accounts associated with it.

Another false post was made, informing fans that they would receive a special fan-meet opportunity with the star in Jeju Island for an extra fee of $100 USD. An additional $800 USD fee was asked for those wanting a 1:1 dinner meal opportunity.

Representatives of KeyEast stated, “The official homepage was recently hacked. We would like to inform fans that the account listed in the notification is not KeyEast’s account, and that the Jeju Island fan-meeting is also false and has nothing to do with KeyEast. We will be halting all membership applications for Henecia for the time being.”

They continued, “The case has been turned over to cyber investigations. We would like to apologize for raising concerns.”

The homepage has currently blocked all visitors.

Kim Hyun Joong releases ‘Please’ MV teaser

SS501 SS501

Ahead of the release of his title track, SS501’s Kim Hyun Joong has released a surprise music video teaser for “Please“, officially kicking off his comeback preparations.

“Please” is a pop R&B track off of his upcoming mini-album and features a beautiful piano melody and a heavy orchestra arrangement that brings out the sadness of the lyrics.

His mini-album, “Break Down“, has been kept veiled for some time now, so this teaser is definitely garnering an explosive response amongst patient fans.

Actress Kim Min Seo stars in the teaser alongside Kim Hyun Joong, who departed from his usual image by sporting a shorter hair cut.

KeyEast stated, “Ahead of the release of the mini-album’s title track, ‘Break Down’, we have decided to release ‘Please.’ This music video is the work of the top staff of Korea, and we are sure fans are looking forward to seeing his new image.”

“Please” will be released online on May 31st, followed by the full music video on June 2nd. Kim Hyun Joong will also be holding a showcase for 4,000 lucky fans on June 7th.

Idol group SS501 will be celebrating their sixth anniversary on June 8th! To commemorate the milestone, the members left thoughtful messages for their fans via Twitter.

Young Saeng wrote, “Today is SS501’s sixth anniversary! Time flies so fast. I remember crying six years ago because I had finally achieved my dream of becoming a singer. I kept saying, ‘This is great’, even while crying. Since we’ve achieved our dreams, let’s strengthen up! SS501! Let no one forget the meaning of our name!”

Meanwhile, Kyu Jong mused, “Time really does fly fast. It feels like just yesterday that we were all so excited and nervous over our debut on June 8th, 2005. It feels like we were crying only yesterday, and now we’re already here. 5-idols, thank you so much! Really, thank you. And to all of the pretties, thank you! SS501 hooray!”

SS501 SS501

After being known as the leader of SS501, and then as an actor, since debuting some six years ago, Kim Hyun Joong is ready to embark on a new path as a solo singer.

Having released his solo mini-album “Break Down” earlier this week, Hyun Joong becomes the fourth SS501 member to do so with Kim Kyu Jong the only one not to have released a solo album.

His title track, “Break Down“, was composed by Steven Lee and is classified as a ’south urban dance track’ which combines powerful electric brass and synth sounds to create an energetic track right from its beginning phases, and has a dynamic choreography to ensure a strong performance.
